The Portuguese Nutrition Association (APN) has released the e-Book “Flavoring Knowledge: Aromatic Herbs and Salicornia.” Miguel Salazar from Riafresh had the pleasure of participating in the review. The e-book provides recommendations on how to benefit from the consumption of these plants while maintaining a healthy diet without sacrificing flavor. Aromatic herbs and Salicornia have been familiar and well-known for a long time and possess both medicinal and aromatic properties due to their characteristics.
Helena Real, Secretary-General of APN, emphasizes that “having a healthy diet nowadays doesn’t mean eating tasteless food.” “Aromatic herbs and Salicornia play an important role in this aspect. Small steps during the preparation of our dishes can make a difference and transform a meal into a true flavor experience. Adding a bit of oregano to fresh cheese, some cilantro to a fish dish, chives to a soup, or incorporating Salicornia into a salad are some examples of how easy it is to incorporate aromatic herbs into your diet. Since Portuguese people consume more salt than they should, aromatic herbs and Salicornia are beneficial for salt reduction.”
